Cricket : Virat Kohli's finest century



In the second ODI against Australia in Nagpur in the second ODI, the Indian team scored Virat Kohli's 40th century, scoring just 250 in 48.2 overs. Virat Kohli played a fine knock of 116 runs in 120 balls and helped the team recover from a poor start to the respectable. In addition to Kohli, Vijay Shankar contributed 46 runs but the rest of the batsmen did not make the big score.

Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first and made two changes in the team. Ashton Turner replaced Shaun Marsh and Jason Behrendorfer in place of Nathan Lion. The Indian team started very poorly and Rohit Sharma was dismissed without a pat on the pads of Pat Cummins before opening the innings. After this, Shikhar Dhawan (21) also went on to Glenn Maxwell's ball at 38 in the ninth over.

Virat Kohli grabbed one end and Ambati Rayudu (18) gave the score to 75 runs, but the dismissal of Raidu in the 17th over was the third blow to India. Vijay Shankar followed up with Kohli well and in the fourth over, there was a great partnership of 81 runs, but in the 29th over, Vijay Shankar scored an unbeaten 46 off 41 balls. After this, Adam Zampa turned the match close in the 33rd over and scored Kandar Jadhav (11) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (0) in two consecutive balls to score India's score of 171/6.

From here, Kohli teamed up with Ravindra Jadeja and completed his 40th century in the 44th over. The partnership between the two shared 67 runs for the seventh wicket and Jadeja contributed 21 runs. Virat Kohli smashed 116 off 120 balls in the 48th over of 248, and after being dismissed, the Indian team added just two runs and all out in the 49th over to 250.

Pat Cummins top-scored for Australia with four wickets apiece. Apart from Adam Zampa, two more Glenn Maxwell, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Nathan Lyon took one wicket each.

Australia started well in response to the target and Aaron Finch (37) and Usman Khawaja (38) added 83 runs for the first wicket, but on the same score, the Indian team shocked the guests by sending the pavilion to both the opener. Ravindra Jadeja gave Australia a third blow in the 24th over and Shaun Marsh scored 16 runs at 122. After 25 overs the score was 126/3 and in the last 25 overs Australia needed 125 runs to win.
